Mine Hydrology: Uranium Mine
Mesa County, Colorado
Western Water & Land was retained by a uranium mining company to perform a mine hydrology assessment for a uranium mine that the company is reopening in western Colorado. The project involved conducting a field investigation and interpreting surface and underground hydrologic data collected at the mine. The surface work included field mapping of hydrogeologic features and sampling and analysis of key water features. Underground work involved mapping of seepage related to specific hydrostratigraphic units. Comprehensive reports of field investigation results and interpretations were submitted to the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety. The scope of services also included the procurement of drilling services and design of a compliance monitoring well for the mine. In addition, Western Water & Land provided supervision of well drilling operations, geologic borehole logging, and direction of well installation and completion.
